IPF ACKNOWLEDGED BY WADA
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has released it's report on the compliance of international federations & national testing agencies with WADA's Code. WADA thoroughly reviewed each organization's anti-doping rules & testing programmes, in a process extending throughout 2008.
As the recognized Anti-Doping Organization for Powerlifting, the IPF was reviewed by WADA. The outcome was that then IPF was found to be compliant with the Code & also to be conducting drug-testing programme. This was in contrast to a number of sport federations & testing agencies, which received comprmised or qualified assessments.
In recent years the IPF has marshalled extensive resources in its fight against drugs in Powerlifting. It is most gratifying for our federation to receive this acknowledgement from WADA, the universal agency leading the war on drugs in sport.
The IPF will not be complacent in continuing it s anti-doping work. We will continue to advance our performance in legislation, testing & detection, enforcement & education as the key components for achieving a level playing field in Powerlifting.
